Literary Healing Arts

Everyone on earth is on a journey. Your life is a constant adventure filled with little wins, a few setbacks, and the occasional home runs. However, those “few setbacks” could be one of the most miserable moments of your life. At least, I knew mine was.

My situation was so bad that I honestly couldn’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. I was drained. Physically, financially and emotionally drained. But during those dark hours, I saw a ray of light. A dash of hope. And it came in the form of a writing class that I decided to take on my journey towards healing.

Week after week, I sat on a red couch, writing myself back together. Once I was done with the class, I was so blown away at how much better I felt. Then I thought, if this could work for me, maybe it could work for somebody else?

So, I went out and I tried this Literary Healing process with other people who were going through healing and they all had amazing results. There and then, I decided I was going to make it my life’s mission to show other people how to Write to Heal.

I started The Literary Healing Arts (L.H.A.) as a way to mobilize that red couch so that others could also write themselves back together as well.

Salaam Green

My name is Salaam Green and I am a Literary Healer. I am also the Executive Director of The Literary Healing Arts (L.H.A.).

I founded the L.H.A. to promote the healing power of words. I got my voice back after writing on a red couch at a Women’s Writing Group. Now, I organize workshops where I teach people how to Write to Heal.

I take that red couch wherever there is a need for healing and growth and I sit with others and we write our voices back into our lives. One word at a time! In my workshops, I usually encourage participants to go deeper and take their writing to the next level.

Afterward, these people came up to me saying that they were inspired to do great things. Some of them started journaling again. Others took the next step to seek counseling. Overall, everyone who attends my Literary Healing workshops became more dedicated to self-care and self-healing.

I invite you to follow my blog to discover the healing power of words through language, writing, poetry, storytelling, journal art, and symbols. Or, you could submit an article to share with our community.
